Dont know if we could get away with an overground metro to link with the underground at Govan X, but the trains / rails would have to be the same as we wouldnt want to have to change trains as that would defeat the object. Without being political, I'm not sure that in an independent Scotland, that form of Metro would be at the top of my priority list when money is tight.... Superefast direct busses to Central and Queen Street would do for me, and maybe the odd one going to Edinburgh.

Money is always tight. Glad you’ve come round to our new constitutional future though.

This proposed metro is a money spinner for economic growth or else they wouldn’t be considering it.

It’s been proposed many times over the years in fact I remember when I worked at Scotland Street Glasgow when the underground was closed for refurbishment it was mooted to extend it out to and beyond the city boundary.

I have a book in my house entitled SPTE about Strathclyde PTE. In the introduction it mentions way back in 1948 an M25 like orbital road was proposed around all of Greater Glasgow. Fast forward 70plus Years it’s still not in place.

There may be lots of proposals but what is la kin is the will to succeed. That old phrase you can take a horse to water.....

How would a metro from Glasgow City Centre to the airport promote economic growth? We need to double or treble the traffiuc at Glasgow (pre pandemic) to do that.

If you look at the plan it’s far more than just a connection to the airport.

Is it still in the "neat idea" folder or moved to the "signed off" one ?

The airport link is phase one part one so today’s announcement has got to be good news.
