Aer Lingus and Qatar Codeshare

Aer Lingus and Qatar Airways have today announced a new codeshare agreement, enabling connections between the two companies flights through Dublin, Manchester and London.

The new codeshare agreement will enable customers to travel between UK and Irish destinations, including Aberdeen, Belfast, Cork, and Glasgow

I wonder if this could eventually lead to Qatar launching flights to Glasgow if there’s a high number of connecting passengers, but think that might be a bit far fetched

Given that QR already codeshare with BA at GLA, I wonder how many people would opt to go via Dublin instead.

I'm sure GLA is in QR's thoughts at some level - iirc a few years ago there was an interview with somebody at QR where they said GLA was under consideration.

I guess with the upheaval over recent years plans will have been slowed down, but at the end of the day, if QR can be persuaded to fly to CWL then they can be persuaded to come to GLA!
