CAA Q4 Report

The CAA Aviation Trends Report is out now.


Section 6 highlights Flight Punctuality, flights are considered on time if they depart within 15 minutes of their scheduled departure time, 25 airports are listed, 3 of which are in Scotland

Glasgow is in 10th Place with 70% of flights on time - the highest in Scotland and 3% above the quarter average
Aberdeen is in 16th with 67% of flights on time - performance is on the quarter average (Tied with IOM, MAN and BOH)
Edinburgh is in 24th with 65% - performance is 2% below the quarter average. (Tied with LHR and STN)

Section 7 lists the Quarterly Terminal Passengers, again 25 airports are featured, with 5 Scottish Airports featured.

Edinburgh is 6th on the list with 3,444,985 (YoY growth of 18%)
Glasgow is 9th on the list with 1,742,238 (YoY growth of 12%)
Aberdeen is 17th on the list with 532,948 (YoY growth of 2%)
Inverness is 21st on the list with 177,010 (YoY growth of 1%)
Prestwick is 25th on the list with 98,759 (YoY growth of 17%)

The top 25 international destinations are also featured, listed from 1st to 25th below.

DUB, AMS, DXB, TFS, ALC, AGP, CDG, BCN, JFK, DOH, MAD, FAO, ACE, FRA, GVA, PMI, LIS, CPH, IST, BER, AYT, KRK, ZRH, BUD, PRG.

ABZ has services to 8 of these
EDI has services to 24 of these - DXB missing
GLA has services to 19 of these - JFK, DOH, MAD, CPH, IST, ZRH missing
INV has services to 2 of these
PIK has services to 6 of these

No Scottish Airport has service to all destinations in the top 10.


Looking at the wider industry, load factors in Q4 were an average of 79% (up 1% on last year), and On Time Performance is up 2% and delays are down by an average of 3 minutes - average delay is now 18 mins.

Good info. Top priorities among them. With a fair wind we could secure NYC, MAD, CPH and IST from this list as well GVA year round which is huge but not properly served from GLA with the current schedule.
