Re: Your first charter flight
First charter was British Caledonian BAC1-11 G-AXJK from Gatwick to Malta on 03/07/73 for ATC Summer Camp at RAF Hal Far, returning a week later on G-AWWZ. Most of the daytimes were spent on the RAF station at Luqa, which was opposite the terminal, and was home to the Canberra fleet of 13 & 39 squa...

Re: Your first charter flight
I'd left Bearsden in 1970, (my Dad's job took him to London), so my first charter flight was London Gatwick to Rome Ciampino in July 1971, on a Caledonian/BUA 1-11. Return to the UK was Milan Malpensa to Luton a week later on a British Midland 1-11. Registrations were recorded in a long-mislaid CAM.

Re: Farewell 747 a personal tribute
end of an era, for sure, I've managed a few flights on 747s..... PanAm LHR-MIA-LHR(-121), BA LHR-JFK-LHR (136), BA LHR-YYZ-LHR (-136), BA YMX-LHR-YMX (-436), BA 2x LHR-PHL-LHR (-436), BA 2x LHR-IAD-LHR (-436), and most memorably Alitalia MXP-MIA-MXP (-243). Not my favourite long haul aircraft to be ...

Re: Farewell "Mad Dog" as Delta's last Douglas products retire
I'm fortunate to have done many DC-9/MD80 series flights over the years. BMI LHR-LPL, KLM LHR-AMS, dozens of Alitalia LHR-LIN and MXP, LHR-FCO, LGW-PSA, MXP-PSA; my last MD80 series flight was actually Delta, DTW-CVG in 2018. One of my favourite aeroplanes, especially in the front cabin.
