Glasgow Ranked Among World’s Top Financial Centres

The Global Financial Centres Index (GFCI) provides an evaluation of competitiveness and rankings for the major financial centres around the world. This report ranks 121 cities and is released biannually in September and March. It ranks Glasgow alongside some of the world’s top performing cities: Glasgow ranks 37th globally and 12th in Western Europe. The city is making consistent and steady progress; one year ago, in September 2023, Glasgow ranked 51st and 21st.

Not sure what the metrics are but especially interesting given some members of the forum seem to believe that Glasgow outranks Edinburgh in terms of financial importance.

37th v 29th globally, 12th v 10th in Europe - and ranked higher than a whole host of major European cities and capitals.

Edinburgh is of course ahead, but the report also doesn't support the assertion that Glasgow isn't at the races compared to Edinburgh either, which some other people seem to believe.

I'd rather view it as a positive story.
