Your last sentence illustrates my point. It’s no harder to fly from GLA now than it was then. But with all these intrepid flyers lapping up EDI there is no requirement or incentive for airlines to invest in GLA. It’s a self fulfilling prophecy. Never mind though, it seems most of the frequent travelers in this group are happy to use EDI. Sometimes we see problems where they don’t exist….
Tail wagging dog....if the airlines offered flights from GLA the flyers would use them. The airlines and airport doesn't so EDI is the only option for direct flights in most cases.
Yes so why would any airline choose GLA when they can choose EDI to serve the central Scotland market?

We are fortunate to have such a facility, that makes it so easy to travel direct without the ‘HUB’ Hassle. Not the easiest to get to (depending on method) but better (IMO) than the indirect option… It has also greatly improved its internal infrastructure and from tram arrival to gate… Simple & pretty efficient… I’ll see what inbound is like tomorrow?
GVA a doddle to use (years since I been through here) and one of the easiest airports to move through. Boarding gate B34 flight looks to be full, without counting. Tram n two trains home via Johnstone Park n Ride …. Ffekkkk

You want the airport to pay the airlines to use the facilities? Because airport charges are only a fraction of the reckoning in a business case to serve one city region or another, especially if you say it’s all the one market. If GLA charged zero for an airline to operate a flight from say Singapore, then EDI would offer the same. Why would the airline opt for GLA rather than the bigger, more popular airport in the area?

GLA bosses are unlikely to be as daft as some of us make out IMO. But they are in an unenviable situation IMO.

As I keep saying the only route to growth is to secure a Ryanair base. Nothing else touches the sides. I’d never say never. In fact I think it’s a certainty in due course.

I noticed a couple of days ago on the BBC News website that EDI's waiting times were quoted at 10 minutes compared to GLA's 38 minutes but I see EDI are 'downplaying' their quoted waiting times by defining it as 'security hall time' . . . you could have waited two hours to get into the security area!!

Todays queues apparently the fault of one broken escalator, seems like some creative thinking going on to save themselves

Well as one who was actually working there today, the queues were horrendous but cleared fairly quickly. Security was extremely busy every time I went airside and had my first AC check in and boarding today. Hopefully the first of many more to come 787 AC then 787 QR.
