Hey up, Manchester chuck

Post by atuk »

Hard on the heels of our PMI trip we went to MAN to visit my cousin and family flying from ABZ via LHR.

A bright shiny 321Neo TNEB was our first leg then 320 US. Good flights all round, lovely flying weather and great to see our house, a speck below with views over the Tay estuary to Tentsmuir Forest and Tayport/Newport as well as Monifieth and Broughty Ferry.

We had a great time catching up and visited Chester and Liverpool as well as Wilmslow and Manchester. The more I visit Liverpool, the more I like it; like Glasgow very underrated. The folks are lovely.

Staying at the Radisson Blu we had a ramp view so lots of LS, TOM, EZY, FR and all the Middle Eastern and European carriers but little variety now: no Air2000, Britannia, Thomas Cook et al. That’s progress for you.

Quite a lot has been said regards trolley charges- they exist in MAN and you have to be quick before it times out and requires an extra quid to release it! It’s not a nice place any more: functional, soulless, a place to endure rather than enjoy. And yes, we were involved in the power cut and meltdown although thankfully we avoided the worst departing from T3. There was a baggage issue but thankfully they arrived in ABZ.

The return flights were 320s - UV then exbmi MIDT which I remarked to the cabin manager who was ex BD!

All round a good time had by all, just waiting until November to wet the new arrival’s head.
