Just found a couple of drawings I did years ago, looking at the airport using the land now being build on for the Glasgow Airport Investment Area to see how a new terminal would fit in to scale.
No one needs to say it - I know this will now never be required but the idea was fun for me while it lasted.

Re: Bygone plans
Seeing this prompted me to look back to previous reports commissioned by the Airport, the most recent of which was from 2019, so pre-pandemic. However, it was basing it's conclusions on an expected 12.8mppa by 2028, and 16.8m by 2040 ( copy here https://www.glasgowairport.com/media/27 ... ummary.pdf
This may have been discussed at the time, but that is all disappeared with the creation of the new forum, so maybe worth re-visiting. Of note was the planned update in 2019 of the original 2011 masterplan, this appears never to have appeared, and I suspect will need a lot re-writing given current circumstances. The airport also put out a press release around this https://www.glasgowairport.com/media-ce ... -000-jobs/, note the huge amount of extra parking on the heading artwork.

I remember these drawings that you presented & I especially liked idea of drawing one … Good fun as you say, but the layout/idea was certainly something in days gone by & (IMO) something that with the correct investment & forethought might’ve been possible…. And yup no one needs to say it (but) “With present owners/management team etc… Nothing of this nature is going to happen, as the airport loses Customer after Customer, a drought of of loco services and all scheduled USA and most Canadian traffic lost to competition” .. Shame.
Re: Bygone plans
Yeah, I remember these too first time round. Loved the idea of the T2 area and especially aiming this terminal for lo-co carriers. Alas, it'll never happen in my lifetime if ever at all now.
Re: Bygone plans
Definitely not in my lifetime, that’s for sure.
It’s academical now as most of the land is going to non-aviation use. Part of my thinking at the time was to divert the road (as has happened) and safeguard the resultant extra acreage for airport use before someone else had a bright idea. Dead and buried now.
