And you have that on good authority from easyJet's commercial team presumably?

It's pretty clear that the two "new" EZY routes for summer 25 come at the cost of three existing routes. Lisbon dropped, peak season Marseille and Newquay replaced by peak season Reus and Antalya. Same old easyJet.
The press release says REU will operate year round and AYT "throughout the summer", so in terms of numbers of flights and pax numbers that's quite an improvement on MRS and NQY which only operated for 8 or 9 weeks at peak summer. We should also remember that EZY have cut all their NQY routes, so it's probably not a GLA specific issue.

As is already noted, LIS is an away based route, so whether or not it operates, it's not being cut to make way for REU or AYT.

It's very frustrating that EZY won't do more city routes to bring in inbound pax, but beggars can't be choosers and if they have successful holiday routes then they might bring in more city routes to fill in gaps.

Yes I’d have given my right arm for a MAD link instead of REU because of the two way and multi faceted pax flow but that’s not how the airline or indeed easyJet Holidays, which this is all about, see it.

Clive wrote: Tue Nov 19, 2024 1:16 pm Your obsession with that West Lothian facility is overbearing. Of course you could have said LIS continues from 135 other cities or half a dozen UK airports but had to get in the one you always mention.
What baffles me is that you don't consider that to be a problem and that someone in Glasgow wishing to travel to Lisbon will not hesitate to travel to EDI in order to do so. The fact that you mention 135 other cities and half a dozen UK airports only highlights that you are missing that very point. The flights from all those airports are largely irrelevant (bar a small percentage who may consider connecting via those airports).

LIS joins the ever-growing list of destinations that are served via EDI to Scotland as a whole.
Well said that man/woman!

They have an EZY service (you see the difference?, if you can't make an appointment at specsavers)
That's quite an irrelevant comparison you've made. While it's true that GLA was served by EJU and EDI by EZY, the EZY service from EDI could have been reduced by two weekly flights. This would free up two weekly slots, allowing EJU to continue operating LIS-GLA. The "last in, last out" principle doesn't apply here, this isn't a nightclub door police we're talking about.

Good points, extremely well made.

I personally really couldn’t care less that this is a schedule post.

This is a Glasgow Airport forum and people post on here. I doubt very much that, much like myself, people pay attention to which sub section of the forum a post is made in.

A suggestion - perhaps it would be an idea to post these schedules, (for those who are interested in reading the endless scrolls of them) onto a spreadsheet, and post a link to the spreadsheet?

Or ask the moderators, if it is possible to lock down these schedule threads (that appear to be so precious to you), so that you, and only you (and the moderators) can edit or comment on them.

Perhaps that would then stop so much of the toys being thrown out of the pram - but then again, your username suggests otherwise ;)

Basically he is asking for some respite from all the kindergarten stuff. I’d back that because what’s good for the forum is intelligent, knowledgeable and well thought out discussion on the subject matter which is very much GLA. Not all of this shite. And it’s happening after easyJet add two new destinations from our airport - something most stakeholders would treat as good news.

You have a point, but, as is often the case, your delivery is so very wrong.

I agree with the previous post, it's up to the mods whether these threads should be open to discussion. As it is a discussion forum and the thread is open, discussion will take place. There is already an easyJet thread but quite often the discussion drifts across multiple threads.

On this subject, a suggestion to the mods would be that we have dedicated airline threads akin to larger airline forums where all discussion takes place. The problem is that every time there is a new route or development there seems to be a new thread created.
