Surprised GLA -STN route was never relaunched, its pretty useful for low cost connections at STN. Looking at EDI they have a late Saturday flight to and from STN which is pretty useful.

Or it will be spin, and capacity will be cut on routes with multiple trips per day, and they can cut capacity and blame government
Spin for sure as the rate increase announced in the budget doesn't come in till April 2026. Not sure why its going to need capacity cuts in summer 2025! Late delivery of aircraft the most likely cause of the cancellations

Yes, headline grabbing spin!

APD is likely to be a high percentage of an average Ryanair 'load factor active/yield passive' base fare but look at the baggage / seat reservation extras being added then add in accommodation / travel to/from airports at either end to get a better reflection of the impact of the outbound only APD increase on a holiday or business trip

Total rewrite of previous post. I am thinking CWL getting a base with EZY or FR with all the recent state cash. If not then maybe something like EZY at LBA. The bigger slap in the face would be FR opening a base at SEN or somewhere like that. I would be pleasantly stunned if this involves GLA.

Given the meltdown they had barely a week ago over the budget I'd be surprised if FR announced a new base anywhere in the UK in the immediate future - It would surely undermine the APD narrative if they did.

If I was to guess I'd go for easyJet opening a base at Southampton or Newcastle, or Loganair opening an obscure base that they'll close in 18 months.

I’d love to be proven wrong, but I’m fairly certain this won’t involve GLA.

A new route to Malta, albeit using a Malta Air.aircraft. I'm sure awwdababy has already got it posted in the schedules mind.

Hopefully a few more to come?
