Emirates
Re: Emirates
Noticed them. I reckon Emirates are banking on your average traveler not knowing the difference between an A380 and an A350, but I could just be being cynical.
Re: Emirates
I've also seen a couple of tv ads.
You would think those in charge at GLA would be having a word about ads for EDI service in Paisley!
It opens the question if GLA management were naive in pandering to EK in the hope of recieving loyalty in return - and shows how essential it is to get other ME3 carriers and TK in as soon as possible.

Re: Emirates
Absolutely they are naive and it begs the question as to how hard can it be to get one of the other ME carriers or TK to pitch up and take on EK given EK have just turned up in their backyard.Iain wrote: ↑Thu Jan 02, 2025 3:49 pm I've also seen a couple of tv ads.

Re: Emirates
Conversely though, on current emails from EK with their various promo fares, if you look at the foot of the emails it states the fares are valid from all their UK departure points but no mention of EDI. It’s almost like their fares and marketing teams don’t talk to each other
How many folk will notice that though and not huge billboard and TV ads

Re: Emirates
Pass a large billboard every day on the train coming out of Paisley Gilmour Street. Announcing to all and sundry that the A350 is coming to Scotland while failing to mention it's not from GLA. EK really do my nut in, ever since the airport was foolish enough to spend the millions on a A380 ready airbridge, or two, and extend the seating space at gate 30, and build the Emirates lounge. Should've kept the money, kept the service(s) on the T7 and courted other ME airlines to use the airport with the money saved. I mean, at the very least, investing in the A380 infrastructure should have had a clause stating no service to EDI in the near future at the very least.
Re: Emirates
Yes, we hear many claims that X and Y airlines may have exclusivity deals with EDI, why couldn't GLA have one with EK?
Interestingly, I believe EK wanted to use the A380 at DUB, but DUB management told them no because they didn't want the expenditure/disruption involved to make the necessary infrastructure changes. Unsurprisingly, this didn't result in EK moving to BFS, and DUB have multiple daily services with QR, EY and TK.

Re: Emirates
I suspect this advertising is paid for by EDI's marketing budget - targetted at the competition
Let's see what press / tv coverage they manage to get for the first A359 service

Agreed. Simply put, don't put all your eggs in one basket. Epic business failure.Iain wrote: ↑Thu Jan 02, 2025 3:49 pm I've also seen a couple of tv ads.

Re: Emirates
Further to this, EK/EDI are only doing what EK/GLA did in years gone by when there was a huge ad at the entrance road to EDI which read along the lines of ‘you’re going the wrong way’ and was advertising EK’s GLA services
Re: Emirates
EDI's persistent focus on advertising in and around Glasgow only reinforces what we already suspect: they rely heavily on the Glasgow population to fill their flights.
