Just out of curiosity, did AGS/GLA arrange the trip? It’s diabolical if they don’t have a staff travel policy that prohibits using flights from Glasgow East!pushingtinonceagain wrote: ↑Mon Mar 24, 2025 2:00 pm Work trip to Oslo to test some new equipment for…….Glasgow ATC.

The biggest pain is during IRROPS, it can be challenging to get a flight home to GLA. This is why we absolutely need AF/QR/AY and more LH
Re: I wish I could fly/have flown to/from GLA but.....
Passengers being diverted to EDI due to IRROPS likely make up less than 1% of the total leakage along the M8.Speedbird Julie wrote: ↑Mon Mar 24, 2025 2:13 pm The biggest pain is during IRROPS, it can be challenging to get a flight home to GLA. This is why we absolutely need AF/QR/AY and more LH

So it is not valid, in your opinion?FlyGLA wrote: ↑Mon Mar 24, 2025 2:20 pmPassengers being diverted to EDI due to IRROPS likely make up less than 1% of the total leakage along the M8.Speedbird Julie wrote: ↑Mon Mar 24, 2025 2:13 pm The biggest pain is during IRROPS, it can be challenging to get a flight home to GLA. I never said it wasn’t valid, but it’s certainly not the biggest issue. I’d absolutely welcome more Lufthansa, the return of Air France, and would roll out the red carpet for QR. The main objective is to enhance GLA’s route network, boost passenger numbers, and reclaim its rightful market share. Improving options for the rare irregular operations is more of a side benefit than the primary goal.

Of course it is a by product of increased connectivity but it would be very welcome in those situations which unfortunately aren't that rare.FlyGLA wrote: ↑Mon Mar 24, 2025 2:27 pmI never said it wasn’t valid, but it’s certainly not the biggest issue. A point I made last Friday viewtopic.php?p=14567#p14567 - quickly shot down by Clive - but what do I know, eh?Speedbird Julie wrote: ↑Mon Mar 24, 2025 2:13 pm The biggest pain is during IRROPS, it can be challenging to get a flight home to GLA. This is why we absolutely need AF/QR/AY and more LH

Ahem, you were alleging BA handling agents at GLA had a uniquely difficult task rebooking pax onto other services. Granted there are far more alternatives at MAN and EDI but the poor staff at ABZ, NCL, BHD, JER and INV face just as onerous a task as those at GLA.egpffqtv wrote: ↑Mon Mar 24, 2025 10:03 pmA point I made last Friday viewtopic.php?p=14567#p14567 - quickly shot down by Clive - but what do I know, eh?Speedbird Julie wrote: ↑Mon Mar 24, 2025 2:13 pm The biggest pain is during IRROPS, it can be challenging to get a flight home to GLA. Anyway, the lesson for Scotland remains the same - don’t think of LHR or BA as the be all and end all of international travel. All roads needn’t lead to London IMHO.

Surely you’re smart enough to work out that my post could also have been referring to passengers whose destination is GLA, as well as their origin. Equally difficult for airport staff all around the globe to reroute pax to GLA, especially when LHR transit is removed from the equation.Clive wrote: ↑Tue Mar 25, 2025 6:16 amAhem, you were alleging BA handling agents at GLA had a uniquely difficult task rebooking pax onto other services. I was sympathising with the absolute hammering these guys would’ve taken on the day, trying to reroute passengers with extremely limited availability on other carriers. But oh no, you immediately have a go at me for purportedly comparing us to another local airport.
Flights ex-GLA (and to GLA) are often rammed at the best of times, so I imagine any spare capacity for rerouting passengers would be minimal at the best of times.
