Let's hope so! An A380 on GLA-JFK blows the competition out the water down the M8.
I’m not so sure that is the case when it’s a new operator with no track record.

Had it been Emirates with an A380 or 777 that would have been a different matter.

Fair point. However, we may need a new, lesser known operator on GLA-JFK as a catalyst to get the US3 back. A new operator with no track record is arguably better than no operator at all. It's clear that the US3 are very complacent with their focus on Glasgow East. As long as they know nobody is entering GLA-USA, there is no reason for any of the US3 to be first to return, but when one does... airlines tend to behave like sheep.

I don't think the COOs of American, Delta or United will be losing a minute's sleep over Global

The story is already the lead on The Herald's website . . . just waiting on the comments!

I trust GLA's management will not naively fall into a trap - those with longer memories will recall Highland Express, Air Scotland and the transatlantic operations of Globespan and the very bad publicity brought by the demise of these operators

This smacks of an airline desperate for some income stream. Any cash to keep them going for a period. Yes they have to test out the product. However, their well known plan is to serve the US from London. Not a regional airport like Glasgow. Not easy obtaining slots at LHR. Gatwick could be an option but not their first choice. In the unlikely event of them starting out from Glasgow for example, the second they get a sniff of a slot at Heathrow they’d be off.

Other than this proving flight or whatever it is, I don’t think their plans will have anything to do with GLA.

Unfortunately the newspapers have got ahold of the story and made a mountain out of a molehill.

I’d love to be proved wrong, and with the A380 they could sell out economy every day at day £200 one way and capture a large chunk of the market and create a new 2 way city pair market - but I highly doubt it. Nothing is ever going to come of it from any airport would be my gut feeling. The choice of using the A380 was the first red flag IMO.
