Drop off/Pick up charge doubled

Post by egpffqtv »

I’ve just read that GLA are doubling their PUDO fee from £2 to £4.

Presumably local mini cab drivers will round it up to a fiver, citing overheads etc ?

Interesting comment from Derek Provan 'we anticipate next year’s figures to be on a par with the passenger levels we experienced in the early 1990s'

1990 was 4,256,000
1991 was 4,154,000
1992 was 4,669,000
1993 was 5,014,000

Call me a pessimist but I think 4 million in 2021 is very optimistic - the volume leisure market will take time to recover while business travel will be risk assessed by most companies

How will the Central Scotland 'cake' be divided over the next few years?

Or offer to drop you off at the garage. Not sure milking the travelling public will go down too well from a PR standpoint.

Well given the original charge was supposed to be about alleviating congestion, I daresay a 100% increase whilst the airport is running at around 10% capacity may be viewed as somewhat opportunistic ?

The link given still states that another option is a free 30 minute drop off / pick up facility at the long term car park with transfer to terminal by shuttle bus
As the long term car park was given over to COVID 19 testing facility , is this option still available or does GLA need to update their website

As far as I know the long stay car park is being used for testing until at least March 2021. That's the current agreement.

Funny that - especially given GLA and LHR aren't part of the same company any more
