How about this :

"Supreme Court Judge Expects People Will Be Forced To Wear Masks, Stay Home For TEN YEARS

British former Supreme Court judge Lord Sumption has warned that “social controls” brought about by the coronavirus pandemic may be kept in place by governments for up to a decade.
“It’s politically unrealistic to expect the Government to backtrack now,” commented Sumption, who has been highly critical of the government’s ‘totalitarian’ Lockdown policies.
Now that the British have allowed society to be permanently deformed, with polls routinely showing vehement support for Lockdown and other pandemic rules, things are never going to be the same again.
Having allowed the precedent that the government can put the entire population under de facto house arrest on a whim, look for the policy to be repeated over and over again with different justifications that have nothing to do with COVID-19.
One of those justifications will be man-made global warming, with climate Lockdowns set to become a regular reality. "

So kiss your holidays in the sun Goodbye !

Really? Judging by the lack of sunshine bucket and spade types flights across all theEuropean continent over the past year the climate must have already benefitted in many ways.

Mind you I wonder exactly how much the school run, trip to the shops, one person car journeys have contributed to climate change along with the many railway lines in the U.K. which still remain diesel operated. Buses are making rapid steps towards cleaner, greener vehicles and when capacity limitations are removed can carry many more passengers and remove many car journeys too.

Aircraft engine technology is leaps and bounds ahead of the old smoky Pratt and Whitney JT8s which many of us grew up with and who would have though forty years ago that four engined 189 seat 707s would be replaced by twin engined 737s carrying the same passenger load.

This is what I meant in a previous post about aviation always being the bad boy on the block.

How about starting with the”new” Scotrail Express trains between Edinburgh/Glasgow- Aberdeen two of which assed me today on my walk down by the Tay. Fifty plus year old technology dressed up as new rolling stock still belching out fumes like some oldClass 37 loco for those of you know what that was.

Atuk, what you say is perfectly true and I fully agree with you.
The problem is, that you are approaching the subject from a rational perspective.
We are, however not dealing with a rational debate here, this is ideology so,
Aviation - Bad : Electic Vehicles ( eg ) - Good.

I think that despite our love for all things Aviation, with on-going de-globalisation and the economic fallout, the airline / holiday industry is in for a steep decline.
Well maybe I should re-phrase that,
The decline which we have now experienced through Covid, is not going to be reversed any time soon.

A supreme court judge knows as much about what's going to happen in ten years as Gypsy Rose Lee does. As to the rest of your post, complete and utterly ill informed claptrap.
