A unique opportunity has arisen for a full time Commercial Insight Analyst (Aviation) within AGS Airports (owners of Aberdeen, Glasgow & Southampton Airports) and based at Glasgow Airport.

Role Overview

The Commercial Insight Analyst will be a pivotal role within the small, focused AGS airline business development team. Reporting to the Group Head of Aviation & Marketing and part of a wider data team, the successful candidate will be adept at spotting trends and identifying new opportunities.

The role has quite a broad scope and should excite candidates with a passion for both data and aviation. Crucial tasks the successful candidate will be responsible for include supporting the creation of the annual passenger budget for each airport, deep dives into big data to highlight business development opportunities, the preparation of data led pitch documents / models and regular analysis on airline performance and profitability. We would expect whoever is successful in this role to work on their own initiative to spot gaps in the market and be able to feed information into the business development function to help pitch well rounded route opportunity ideas to the airlines.

The work this role delivers impacts many internal business partners not least our Retail and Operations teams as the candidate will also ensure information is disseminated throughout the business on any fundamental airline schedule changes and will become a key contact for those teams on anything passenger number related.

The role will be based at Glasgow Airport, the headquarters office of AGS. Flexibility is offered on an office versus remote working split.

Key responsibilities

To actively support the Group Head of Aviation in driving airline business partner engagement for network development. Includes, but not limited to maintaining existing routes through providing thorough analysis and identifying new route opportunities
Use internal datasets to monitor airline and route profitability, highlighting risks and opportunities
Support the Group Head of Aviation in developing a comprehensive suite of regular PowerBI reports that shows how our airlines are performing, highlighting risks / opportunities
Manage passenger/ATM (air traffic movements) /NATS (air traffic control) tonnage budgeting, forecasting, and reporting over short/mid/long term
Support development of a commercial insight models to truly understand our passenger and market segments
Provide periodic intelligence on the UK aviation market and key airline, as well as competitor airport activity
Undertake competitive benchmarking scenario analysis
To support the wider Commercial Team with attendance at any industry/on airport events
Interact on occasions with airline customers at industry events and account meetings
Essential

Minimum 3 years experience in a similar /relevant role
Strong analytical and numeracy skills
A high level of proficiency in Excel and PowerPoint
Knowledge of QlikView system, Power BI, Tableau or similar
Ability to work to a high level of accuracy, often with strict time pressures
Willingness to analysis data for sustained periods
Team player with a willingness to participate in the wider activities of the airport
Desirable

Any sales/business development experience
Knowledge of the aviation sector
Degree in maths / statistics or similar field
