Re: Positive possibilities
I would think FR prospects may have improved, given the capacity constraints which EDI are showing on the ACL report shown elsewhere. However, it will take a bit of hard negotiation to land that one, and it would be susceptible to moving east once the capacity issues are resolved.
EK is a tricky one. EDI was previously the 3rd flight, which probably limited its demand. If it was to be the return of the 2nd service it would probably be able to go straight to daily. However, they have the investment in the GLA lounge to consider, which is presently underused, so may colour the decision.
Jet Blue, and US in general, is off the agenda now, as it would need a carrier which was heavily economy-configured, a bit like Air Transat is for Canada. B6 would need to have some single-class, or small premium cabin, A21N available for the route. More appropriate could be Frontier or Southwest, but transatlantic is still some way in the future for both of them. Return of any of the US legacy carriers is unlikely, as they all move their focus to more premium products for the American market.
Future prospects will depend in the budget travel sector, from Europe or beyond, but that will need AGS to offer a lower permanent cost base to that airline segment.

Re: Positive possibilities
As we know, one of the main reasons Ryanair still have pax ops at PIK is it allows them to switch aircraft in and out of maintenance at PIK without the need for positioning flights, similar to how BA use the Shuttle’s at LHR.
One potential way of getting a Ryanair base and allowing them to consolidate West Coast Ops would be for AGS to sign a deal that covered the costs of any positioning flights between GLA and PIK and vice versa.
The other thing regarding a Ryanair base - realistically you need 3 or more aircraft to based - anything less and you leave yourself open to what happened previously.

Re: Positive possibilities
I would've thought FR could be "cute" and maintain 2 or 3 2x weekly sun routes at PIK, which would let the rotate aircraft through and force the terminal to stay open so it can be used a threat against GLA in future.McG wrote: ↑Mon Nov 21, 2022 1:14 pm As we know, one of the main reasons Ryanair still have pax ops at PIK is it allows them to switch aircraft in and out of maintenance at PIK without the need for positioning flights, similar to how BA use the Shuttle’s at LHR.

A STN plus switching the DIB route to being operated by GLA based would probably get there. The other thing regarding a Ryanair base - realistically you need 3 or more aircraft to based - anything less and you leave yourself open to what happened previously.

Re: Positive possibilities
Frankly something is very wrong if those flights are anything but full...
