'jetblue' has long had insider knowledge on this forum, I'll take his/her word over The Times! The article to me sounded like GLA/MAN were further down the line than next summer anyway.

Totally get that , nobody is doubting anything , all i said the article was from this week , simple as not , not 2019...

OK after some digging (i.e. pestering people) it appears that the lower mint seat count 321NEOs (16/144 vs 24/114 used on LHR) could be added to the ETOPS certification - there should be 6 of them next summer. They have one less fuel tank but can still make a round trip to the UK/Ireland during summer months non stop. This may happen if the decision to add Hawaii to the network is taken as these will be the aircraft to do it and a year round use will justify the cost. Those in the know say that the 200 seat all economy NEO will struggle westbound so not being considered but Primera used a more dense one on STN-BOS in the past without issue.

The run can be done without ETOPS but can add up to 2 hours extra flying on the round trip - not making money that way.

So maybe there is hope.
