If only TUI were operating eight GLA based aircraft! They may actually serve HER and LCA both which were served by FCA and TOM! In addition add some new destinations such as Hurghada, Izmir, Skaithos, and closer to home Milan, Pisa, Venice and Gerona.

The actual total based is 4*737 either -800 or MAX which operate on several days W pattern flights covering ABZ and possibly NCL. The 787-800 operates a six day week being based from Wednesday to Sunday: Cancun, Melbourne, Palma and Tenerife.

It’s no accident that four aircraft are GLA the previous two are supplemented by removing based aircraft from ABZ and EDI.

If GLA really wants to gain traction get BA Cityfler to add new destinations such as Palermo, Alghero, Murcia or Almeria and Aer Lingus Uk to add JFK and MCO.

All this talk of dialogue with City of Glasgow Council, Chamber of Commerce is no difference from the co-operation with City of Glasgow Council, Renfrewshire Council during Amanda’s successful reign when we actually prospered!

Groundhog Day?
Tui clearly see the money is made at GLA rather than edi.. edi probably not giving them the same multi destination deals as the " more important carriers get " and see them as not important hence wizz left also .. . Hope tui grow even further

TUI have only done what I had been advocating for years; a larger Gkasgow base searching GLA plus W pattern flights to ABZ, BFS and Edi thus removing the need for a based at these airports. It’s much more cost effective and was done in the last decade when AMM removed CWL flying in favour of BRS and TOM took over at EXT from FCA.

The sad thing is that given the demise of Thomas Cook TUI didn’t capitalise on this quickly enough and yet again missed the boat. If it wasn’t for Jet2 and their commitment to GLA it would be in an even worse situation than it is now,
