The numbers will be grim for a while yet. At least each month is showing an improvement over the previous one, so all I'm looking for is that trend to continue. For all airports, it's going to be a rebuilding effort from near zero.

Agreed, and a rebuilding effort over years rather than months but outline commercial agreements between airports and airlines need to be agreed now to secure a longer term position where airport capacity will clearly exceed passenger demand

Are "team GLA" looking at long term opportunities coming out of all this ? Are they renegotiating existing deals, talking about new ones, looking at attracting new business, reinforcing links and routes ?
Are they simply ticking over, waiting for things to bob up to the surface ?

What's the long term thinking ?

The CAA's tables for August now published - GLA recording 163,000 passengers in the month down 82% on August 2019

As a comparison EDI 315,000 down 79% & PIK 13,000 down 84%

A quick extract of international passenger flows above 3,000 in the month gives an interesting comparison and shows the effect of traffic flows to Eastern Europe from EDI with Warsaw, Prague, Krakow & Gdansk occupying 4 of the top 6 places

DUBLIN 4,652
HERAKLION 3,785
DUBAI 3,669
PARIS 3,485
ALICANTE 3,364
RHODES 3,320

EDI > 3,000

PRAGUE 8,413
KRAKOW 6,987
PARIS 6,649
GDANSK 6,428
DUBLIN 5,838
GENEVA 5,237
BERLIN 5,091
BUDAPEST 4,382
DALAMAN 4,333
HERAKLION 4,229
BERGAMO 4,226
ATHENS 4,030

It really just shows that Ryanair kept relatively active IMO.

Do the figures account for both inbound and outbound pax?

Because if they do then the domestics totals should be the same for both airports. However the tables show discrepancies. Barra and Heathrow were two I noticed where the numbers were different.

Yes we know.
