Flights to Glasgow scrapped by major airline in 'difficult decision'
Re: Flights to Glasgow scrapped by major airline in 'difficult decision'
Pick Up & Drop Off just increased by 25% to £5! (all electric vehicles registered on GLA website get 10 minutes free)

Let’s try to keep this more sensible for as long as possible.Clive wrote: ↑Wed Feb 15, 2023 9:35 amYou said domestic and holiday. Short breaks, DIY trips, and city breaks, are holidays. That’s a lot of the people onboard all those budget flights to and from EDI and many of Europe’s airports. Indeed the same traveller demographics apply to flights involving GLA. We usually use the terms ‘flying for business or leisure’.southflyer wrote: ↑Wed Feb 15, 2023 9:06 amLook at EDI's route map and tell me if it strikes you as serving primarily the domestic and bucket and spade market.
Of course they would. They'll probably tell you that they gained X amount of new routes in the last 5 years, one of which is still operating. Did you hear Greggs is opening though?Clive wrote: ↑Wed Feb 15, 2023 9:01 amI’m certain if AGS or GLA bosses could respond they would refute what you say. I’m not excusing them but I can’t really judge them as an onlooker. We don’t know how any other airport operator would have done any better in the real world that they have to operate within.
All the airport bosses can do is persuade airlines of a business case and secure routes, and a degree of marketing in cooperation with the airline and other bodies. If no one uses those flights they will fail.

I’m kind of lost for which words to use remarking on the above? There is so much that can be done years ago, now & in the future… The past & present airport bosses couldn’t persuade a dog to a bone, they have & are failing in their job, from top to bottom management… They had the business, they failed to hold on to it They had business, they lost it. They had the business they failed to grow it… Turn the clock back, give us the foresight & enthusiasm shown by Team EDI and where would GLA have been..!!! This current mob are failures in running an airport or they are doing a wonderful job doing what they have been tasked to do… Sturgeon behind her carefully prepared speech today, basically said ‘I cannot carry on and have hit my limit on where I take this country’ … Too bad GLA management don’t put their own hands up & admit failure on the task too big for their inept skills.

Talk about being pedantic - at the beginning of the post I specifically mentioned bucket and spade as GLA's city and short break market is spectacularly poor for the market it serves.Clive wrote: ↑Wed Feb 15, 2023 9:35 am You said domestic and holiday. A bit late for that, don't you think?

Didn’t last long. That’s a shame.
Still looking forward to SharpAl’s response to my answer to him.

Response from GLA to a customer complaint on Twitter
"As part of an ongoing review of our parking charges, passengers using the dedicated pick-up and drop-off facility will now pay £5 for an increased time period of 15 minutes from today. A free 30-minute period in our Short Stay Car Park will remain in place for Blue Badge holders and we will also continue to offer a free 30-minute option at our Long-Stay Car Park, which we would encourage people to use. The funds generated through our parking services will continue to go directly towards re-establishing our connectivity and improving the airport’s facilities."

In other words, the extra £1 is paying for your pasties.....
Embarassment.
Embarassment.

With all registration recognition data at their disposal, GLA will know that virtually nobody spent more than the previous 10 minutes in the facility so the extra £1 for 5 minutes is straight into the back pocketGeorgeNTravels wrote: ↑Wed Feb 15, 2023 7:42 pmResponse from GLA to a customer complaint on Twitter

Would be nice if they upgraded the travel experience to the City Centre from those shitey 500 busses.
Not a patch on the Citylink coaches from EDI to Buchanan Street. Despite all the political bother with the rail link etc this sort of thing is well within their control, theres no excuse for the piss poor connectivity offered.
