It’s about 350 seasonal staff who are being considered because there is no work and the furlough scheme is being run down. Those staff would have been leaving around 1 November. The EDI base previously had a hard job retaining cabin crew so it seems those they have got are on permanent contracts. That would explain it. Still be reduced flying though.

They are now forced to anticipate a 50% reduction in planned flying programme over the remainder of the summer season, 20% reduction over the winter and back to full planned ops by April. They are retiring the 757’s and cancelling 3 A321’s and 2 738’s they had on order.

5 A321's and 3 B738 won't be taken and 2 B752 which are due for major checks will be retired.

KLM remains daily in July

We're gradually resuming flights to an increasing number of European and intercontinental destinations via Amsterdam. In July, we’ll be offering two daily flights from London Heathrow and Manchester, plus daily departures from: Aberdeen, Birmingham, Bristol, Edinburgh, Glasgow, Inverness, Leeds Bradford, London City and Newcastle.

Excluding Loganair, 11 flights today.

6 easyJet, 2 Ryanair, 2 BA, 1 KLM

Including Loganair, the Swift Air freighter, the GAMA King Air Flights and G-EUYH going back to LHR, think it's over 20 flights for the day.

Amazing to think that we used to have almost 20 flights departing between 6am and 7am alone. :(

For first time since service went daily, KLM are reintroducing the night stopper at GLA. As a result there is an extra inbound flight later today with a 737-800.

New schedule sees the early morning departure from GLA and an 18:15 arrival from AMS in the evening.

KLM booking engine shows possible return to 3 daily in August.

A poor show IMO from our Mark and par for the course from Dewar. Presumably Mark is being quoted out of context by STV who of course want to make this a SNPBad story.

For absolute clarity, Green is for go. Red is for stop. Our Scottish Government are going along with the UK’s list from 10 July - same as England and Wales. The Scottish Government are working on the amber list because they don’t want to risk lives by being reckless. Lower risk than Scotland is good, higher risk is not, and the situation is dynamic. If that’s not good enough for our airport bosses then they may be in the wrong profession. Just blindly go along with Boris’ shambolic government and there will be plenty vacancies for undertakers if that’s what they’d prefer.

Despite this entire covid-19 affair not supposed to be about politics, we now seem to have evolved it into a well developed political football, with the main protaganists being the Boris XI versus Everyone Else FC ! :(

I can fully understand the emotive arguments put forward by airport bosses (and everyone else) as regards job losses and loss of income, but they now sound like vested interests, at the expense of the concerns and advice of senior health experts and everyday NHS workers, many of whom have witnessed countless premature deaths in recent months and continue to raise concerns about getting people circulating 'en masse' again.

We seem to be walking a slender tight rope now between, keeping people employed and risking filling up morgues again. The party of commerce sound as if they'd be happy enough with continued collateral damage as long as business is booming, something more obvious when you listen to the likes of Jackson Carlaw, who's every utterance nowadays is a (not so) thinly veiled attack on the Scottish Government or suggestive commentary about how it is wilfully ignoring 'the boss' down south in some sort of political point scoring exercise, conveniently ignoring the fact other UK regional parliaments are also employing a cautious approach.

Unfortunately this whole saga, ain't over yet and we're not going to see a bounce back for a long time either. God help us, what else might happen first.
