And is is that an engineering task to change it or a simple inputting of updated info into aircraft systems ?

Both - it takes a physical change to the aircraft with the registration markings and quite a lot of paperwork and company manuals to change.

Seems we now have Loganair and Blue Islands in one Corner - Eastern Airways and Aurigny in the other. It will be interesting to see how this all goes in the years ahead.

Is that not like taking away a vital lifeline to the island ??

According to the article below they're suspending GLA and INV but retaining EDI and ABZ, so "vital lifeline" links will remain.

Worked up there a couple of years ago for a period , my experience is that most people had more than a leaning towards glasgow as a city with family , services , shopping etc etc so i am surprised LM have done this over winter ...

For the winter:
EDI has kept LSI and KOI services but lost SYY.
GLA has kept SYY but lost KOI and LSI.

EDI-KOI and EDI-LSI are much bigger routes than GLA in terms of passenger numbers - by a long way. EDI volumes have just about overtaken ABZ to both of those points in the last couple of years, I think. There just isn't enough traffic to/from the islands right now to justify both GLA and EDI services - you end up with a 30% loadfactor and making losses on both instead of a 60% loadfactor and breaking even or a small profit on one.

Sure all will be back next year.
