Now I pride myself on being a pillar of positivity even in the midst of these uncertain times however, I occasionally find myself fearing the unthinkable in terms of GLA and their total inability to hold onto the surest of sure things. My question is this. Do we think EK, the jewel in GLA's crown, will remain committed to Glasgow or shift east?
EK is an airline that I have the utmost respect for. Not only have they built into a powerhouse in aviation, but they have been loyal to GLA in the process. All the way from daily a330s to a twice-daily service at its pre-covid peak and a snazzy lounge to boot. Business has been to quote Tim Clark 'going gangbusters' ever since its inception way back in the early 00s. However with an ever stagnant team GLA, I can't help but find myself asking the question. We have seen how VS performed at GLA however they shifted east. I'm well aware of EK's previous attempt at an EDI service however I would put its suspension more at the hands of very poor timing over anything else. GLA is my local airport and I would love nothing more than to see a catalog of long-haul destinations on the departure board however these are increasingly dark times. Unfortunately with dark times come dark questions.
So I put it to you guys! Will EK remain loyal to GLA for the foreseeable? Or will the lure of incentives and a forward-thinking team over in the east prove too good to miss?

They tried and failed at EDI while remaining at GLA.

I think with Qatar at EDI then GLA will be secure with EK, especially given the investments made by GLA towards EK with an A380 jetbridge and stand, and other airport works done for them.

So VS switched east to serve a bigger, more lucrative market? I'm absolutely certain that's not the case Clive. Money talks these days and that's where my doubts lie. Airlines go where the money is and in an increasingly leisure orientated, Margin focused world, any sizeable incentive to serve a new market has to be tempting.

Virgin switched due to one word, Delta, to Delta, Scotland is Edinburgh so to them anything from there will work, but Virgin have already proven it's not, the problem is they won't admit it.
Emirates have spent a fair amount of money at Glasgow, 8 million for a triple airbridge, we are the only Scottish airport to have a scheduled A380 service, and I know we are starting to return to a sense of normality and the 2nd flight and A380 will return, at present we are looking at 2023, I nervous as f**k about getting on a plane just now, and for some on here that will be a surprise.
Emirates have also spent an estimated 2 million on the Lounge so I don't think we have a problem
We all know the current management are as useful as a chocolate teapot but there is someone out there that is the future of Glasgow, who knows what they have in store

If money talked they’d have stayed at GLA where they made a fortune not from the airport bosses but from the fare paying passengers and holidaymakers. No, it was Delta wanting to consolidate at EDI.

I wonder then why DL didn't want to consolidate at GLA? VS were making a mint flying from GLA with ever increasing frequencies and DL had resumed their summer service. Is there another in the alliance perhaps that decreed EDI or nothing? Just asking, don't actually know.

There's the VS/DL alliance but DL are part of Skyteam, EDI have two other members whilst we only have one, AF and KL vs KL

If we look at it from Delta’s point of view, Edinburgh is Scotland in the same way that Havana is Cuba and Oslo is Norway. I know it’s sad, but it’s true.

To Americans only one place is Scotland, same with London, I just watched a video on tiktok asking Americans to point to a country on a map, not one of them could do it, and they are supposed to be the greatest power
