Looks like there could be expansion by FR at GLA for S23.

Re: FR S23 Expansion?
Won’t get my hopes up until something is announced but it seems positive to mention because lord knows Glasgow needs it.
Re: FR S23 Expansion?
Some encouraging news that GLA are at least having positive discussions with Ryanair. However a warning shot across their bows in the press from Ryanair that there is a lot of competition for aircraft elsewhere in Europe. (Ie agree to our proposals and you’ll get aircraft and routes.)

Re: FR S23 Expansion?
Derek Provan leaves and all of a sudden Ryanair are keen on growth again
Re: FR S23 Expansion?
A Glasgow Airport spokesperson said: “Our route development team engages regularly with each of the airport’s airline partners to deliver the routes and services our passengers demand.”
‘Route development team’ … Who woke them up ?
Re: FR S23 Expansion?
All joking aside, fingers tightly crossed on this one - potentially GLA’s saviour.
I did think the reintroduction of Ryanair domestic links to STN could be the catalyst we needed to get a base established at GLA, as happened before.
But I’d take any uptick in business between GLA and Ryanair.

Well, Im changing position on this rumour. Not a huge R fan. Use them when I need to. Dont trust them.Dont believe them.
However, with the lack of progress at GLA, this should be welcomed if in fact its true.
Beggars cant be choosers and all that.

Yeah, I'll believe it when I see it too. I often feel that when FR make statements like this in the press they often have ulterior motives. In this case I wonder if such a statement about GLA could actually be intended to apply pressure to EDI.
It makes you wonder (although is he not still in position until a replacement is found?).GeorgeNTravels wrote: ↑Thu Oct 27, 2022 12:11 am Derek Provan leaves and all of a sudden Ryanair are keen on growth again
After the base closure, in late 2018 GLA got FR to reintroduce iirc CRL, AGP and ALC and the airport MD said this:
And since then we've seen nowt, so one wonders what's been going on between GLA and FR?“Ryanair’s decision to bring back what were four popular routes is very welcome news indeed.
“The introduction of these services is hopefully a first step to Ryanair re-establishing a strong presence here and we are really pleased the airline recognises our position as the West of Scotland’s principal airport and gateway to the region’s huge market.
As Clive says, it would most likely be STN coming back - and that might be it - but that's still better than nothing tbh!
Re: FR S23 Expansion?
Yeah I know. Who'd have ever thought that eh? Unless Provan was paid off in lieu I think he's hanging around until March 2023 if memory serves, so I'm not expecting things to move until then.GeorgeNTravels wrote: ↑Thu Oct 27, 2022 12:11 am Derek Provan leaves and all of a sudden Ryanair are keen on growth again
