Just had an email from Air Transat saying that my A330-200 next June has been swapped to the A321. with that in mind here is a summary of our USA/Canada/Mexico flights.

Toronto: 5 weekly in June, rising to daily in July and August (4/1 and 5/2 for A321/A330 usage)
Melbourne Orlando: Average of 2 weekly flights (usual rise in June still happens)
Cancun: Average of 2 weekly flights (usual rise in June still happens)

WestJet?

Are they (deliberately) pricing themselves out of market?

Air Transat charging £550 for a return whereas WestJet want £1700.

They are on sale for next summer but only at the highest fare bracket (when I checked anyways that was the case).

I will add to the list and remove if needed

Or about to move lock, stock and barrel to EDI. They've applied for daily YYZ and YYC from there for next summer.

This absolutely infuriates me. Why can GLA not hold on to business. Instead, WS rather go to Edinburgh and compete against daily AC 787 flights coupled with all the other trans atlantic routes from EDI. Is there genuinely that much business from EdI or are airlines just behaving like sheep?

I suspect this behaviour is driven by the instinct to 'hang on the coat tails' of the airlines / destinations with the highest profiles, best marketed airline(s)/airport(s) (Visit Scotland?!) and then 'word of mouth' follows but is still significant - I don't profess to know the inner workings of search engines but the more clicks drives profiles up the pecking order

You only have to look at the number of routes with at least two airlines competing from the same airport (and then multiply by 2x or 2.5x that number to cover the other two airports in Central Scotland eg Ryanair might operate to the same destination from all three Central Scotland airports plus Aberdeen) - clearly short haul routes have more volume but New York supports two airlines from Edinburgh

Its not the traffic from EDI per say, but the traffic to EDI.

To Scotland even. A lot of Canadian visitors will venture beyond Auld Reekie but almost all will visit it while here.

Plus the airlines get a better deal form EDI. This is fairly often coupled in with a deal that they get for flying to their other major airport, LGW.
