BA seek to retire 747s with immediate effect
Word is coming out that BA are seeking to retire their 747 fleet with immediate effect
Re: BA seek to retire 747s with immediate effect
Been announced internally to staff with consulation pending. I imagine it'll go official very soon.

Very difficult times in aviation
Nearly 100 hours on BA B747s from G-AWNL back in 1981 from Toronto to Prestwick then a big gap to numerous business trips over 2010-2012 flying on G-BNLL/S/W, G-BYGC, G-CIVC/E/N/X/Y/Z to/from Boston, Chicago, Houston, Sao Paulo & Toronto

Im no plane spotter, but, even with my basic understanding of such things, this is a sad day. Nothing quite beats a jumbo flying over the hacienda on a blue sky day on its way to Glasgow.
I know the reasons etc, but it seems an iconic machine has made a further step towards history.

At least we have nearby PIK where there will be 747 activity of the freighter variety for years to come. Buy yes, with Virgin pulling their fleet and the chances of seeing a BA or KLM diversion into GLA now gone, it only realistically leaves Lufthansa diverts and the ad-hoc providers really in terms of a 747 ever again gracing the GLA tarmac I suppose ?hads wrote: ↑Fri Jul 17, 2020 10:33 am Im no plane spotter, but, even with my basic understanding of such things, this is a sad day.
