I love all things aviation related and enjoy reading about what is happening at GLA and other airports in the UK, however, I have have been observing this argument across many headings on this forum and I feel it is getting getting stuck in a rut. Is it not really positive that here in Central Scotland we are all around 60-90 minutes away from two airports that offer (mostly daily flights on legacy carriers) to all of the hubs on this list. We have never had such availability and such choice before and accessibility is key. It could be a bit more evenly spread, but like it or lump it, the market always decides and has control of us all...no matter the validity of the argument. Can a more more positive approach about GLA in the wider aviation world and not be trapped in parochial thinking. Aviation is exciting and this forum is in danger of becoming a tad depressing to be honest. Think positive, things will change...they always have done and always will, for better and for worse!
Hi Gardner, good post by the way, but can I ask, what's positive about by-passing an 'international' airport that's around 4 miles from where I live to travel 30 miles to another airport just to catch a flight to Milan, Venice, Copenhagen, Stansted (at a decent time of day) and dozens of other examples? I fail to see anything positive in this at all. I just feel like most on here want the imbalance addressed, that's all. We know we'll never have the schedules, destinations, and airlines Edinburgh has. So, Scottish aviation life is really positive if you live in Edinburgh, Fife or The Lothians though, I agree. :|
I think he means we don’t have to re-highlight it with every single thread. Personally I find it exceptionally tedious and adding a laughing smiley doesn’t help.

And folks beware - it will take time for the new CEO to get results. This summer is already mapped out. Hopefully by next summer we’ll be able to see some green shoots.

It was never my intention for it to come across negatively, quite the opposite, in fact. If it was perceived that way, I apologise.

My point was to highlight that if we can successfully sustain a daily service to one of the smallest hubs in Europe, then surely many of the others would also be viable. The potential is clearly there, and the list provided demonstrates the opportunities available for the new owners to pursue.

Yes, a few are bolt ons as global gateway hubs, like IST and CDG. It does beggar belief that we don’t have them at present. At least we now have FRA but I always worry if GLA’s pax are as open to using them as they are used to KLM and BA.
