I think that it was because of the lack of a suitable “ In Transit Facility “ as all passengers were treated as international arrivals and departures requiring them to to go through immigration, obviously this was an unnecessary complication.

Aye, so this is the modification GLA would have to do to host a similar operation.

So in my plan for Scottish Airlines, Saltire Airlines or Alba Air (name not yet considered) it would all be contained in the west pier and it would only take a door to be labelled Transit Pax between the arrival and departure levels as well as the use of 4 gates during the two 1-2 hour banks of parking.

Ok, so GLA would need some changes to facilitate it. However given the size disparity between GLA and BFS I can imagine that it would be far easier to do at GLA than over the water.

I'm sure many of you have been to BFS it's barely fit for human habitation never mind being a transit hub! I don't think the physical set up of GLA v BFS will be what has led to BFS being chosen....
