EK don’t serve EDI.
They'll be relieved that they no longer do , given the current goings on through there. I don't see much more space for growth at EDI , so maybe , going forward , we'll see AC back here to tie in with EK !

There actually would be space for its previous slot 1415/1900 or thereabouts.would work for YYZ-DXB but not for the outbound.

Wonder what’s next. EK to join Star Alliance? Funny to think that the Canadian Government severely limited service to Canada from the UAE back in the day.
I don't think you're far off the mark there. Would make sense with Middle Eastern pax into EDI with EK and onwards to Canada from there with AC.
Already set up more or less is it not?
EK don’t serve EDI.
Yet. ;)

What has happened to Emirates at Glasgow?!!! why at least no second daily 777 returning and what happened to the A380 which was advised would return mid 2022? As of 3 July Qatar offering nearly as many seats ex EDI! Even Emirates now seem to be taking the piss out of GLA, as few seats on offer are at exorbitant prices. Their MAN and BHX services are all back to 2019 levels, why not GLA?
The A380 comment from GLA was put out by a social media member in the airport without confirmation from the airline.

We can’t compare prices between pre and post pandemic as EK now have a fuel surcharge and as with everyone has rising costs.

Flights from GLA from the stats are operating above 90% load factors but as has already been pointed out many pax connected to Australia and New Zealand which have only just reopened. As confidence in these countries entry rules grows, bookings will as well.

Final point, EK have been struggling with cabin crew recruitment as have most airlines. Their ceo has already stated this and that he wanted more of his aircraft in the air this summer but it has not been possible.
Perhaps this could encourage AC to return to GLA, or on the other hand encourage EK to resume EDI-DXB providing more competition to QR/AC and vice versa.

I can’t recall the arrival time for AC into GLA but it could work. IMO it would be more attractive for pax to connect at GLA due to the EK lounge.

Some good observations. Although, surely EK flights from MAN and BIR have same issues with passenger reductions/connections as GLA yet these have been fully reinstated?
Sorry to say, I share the view that AC-EK connection at EDI most likely to be end game.

I would think this is more about feeding their major shared destinations like Heathrow and Frankfurt, where both have multiple daily flights. Also, AC will be able to offer onward flights from DXB with EK, similarly Emirates will be able to serve parts of North America over Toronto.

I don’t. This has no implications for Scottish services with either carrier.

I agree, can’t see EK moving a successful year round service to EDI to connect with a summer only flight that doesn’t even run the full summer season.

Nor can I see Air Canada moving to GLA to accommodate the code share in Scotland. They could move to GLA but it wouldn’t be because of this.

Funny though how no one even contemplated EK staying put and Air Canada moving. Truth is nothing will alter in Scotland on the back of this code share agreement.

I think nobody mentioned AC moving to GLA from EDI is due to the fact that next year’s schedules are already finalised with a daily service.
