Aye, I think there is just general wider disdain for the regions as opposed to just Glasgow. When was it again that UA flew to the likes Belfast, Newcastle and Bristol, must have been around 13/14ish?

Wrt to UA it's interesting that they seem very committed to only serving 2 UK airports, but these announcements I think put them up to 5 airports served in each of Spain and Italy - and 4 in Potrugal, a small country of 10million.

To come back to GLA specifically, Andy Cliffe, the AGS CEO, has repeatedly stated publicly that getting direct scheduled flights to the USA is a top priority, and in a another recent thread we saw they were also saying that to the airport consultative committee, with 2025 being specifically mentioned.

Given the 3 major US airlines have made their announcements for next year, it looks like it will be S26 at the earliest for any advancements (and even that is probably wishful thinking). So not only have AGS failed spectacularly in losing all of GLA's US routes, but they have now failed to replace any of them for at least 7 years, despite Glasgow being the 3rd most visited UK location by US visitors and GLA pre-covid having hundreds of thousands of direct and indirect pax to the USA.

Meanwhile airports with little or no history of direct service are attracting US carriers ahead of GLA.

I hoped that when Andy Cliffe took up his position things might improve, but unfortunately it seems like the same continued failure under different leadership.

Their performance and offer to airlines is seemingly so poor that EK's response to operating a pretty much full daily A380 from GLA is not to increase frequency/capacity at GLA, but to start flights from EDI. I think that says it all.

If AGS is still for sale, and we still want MAG to be he preferred buyer, we can at least hope for them to negotiate routes with most of the airlines that operate to & from MAN.

Anyone but MAN to be honest. MAN is the most reviled airport in the country and I'd hate to see GLA go down that path.

Although we don't have the routes we want GLA is actually very pleasant to pass through and I'd rather not give that up.

I'd much prefer a solid route network over an empty terminal. GLA only feels pleasant because it's a ghost town 90% of the time.
