Team EDI must be throwing money at these routes.

It's still amusing to think that some members of this forum believe EDI can support all this transatlantic capacity, while an airport just 40 miles away, with a larger immediate catchment area, supposedly has no demand.

Unfortunately the airlines seem to believe that too - and AGS don't have the ability to disabuse them of that notion.

As we are all too aware, EDI has done deals (probably long-term and/or exclusive to Scotland) to increase supply which in turn both creates new demand and sucks demand from its competitors (40 miles is nothing to a US or Canadian inbound tourist who are used to either driving to or transiting through hubs) . . . I frequently travelled to Battle Creek, Michigan on business a few years ago using DTW, ORD & BOS either flying to/from AZO (Kalamazoo) or GRR (Grand Rapids) or driving from/to DTW or ORD

That ties in with my previous post on Breeze regards driving from Stewart to Maryland.

What EDI has and GLA sadly lacks is a posse of alliance carriers.

After wading through all the poorly quoted mumbo-jumbo, the post itself turns out to be hardly worth reading, just more EDI fanboy drivel.

Ok firstly I’m willing to learn how to post quotes correctly if this causes issues. Rather than criticising how about being constructive and tell me how to do it properly.

Secondly FlyGla I’m not and have never been an EDI fanboy and neither do I post drivel!

I tell it as it is. Having worked in ABZ, EDI, GLA and PIK I have first hand experience and knowledge of working practice and procedures. Do you? Furthermore having been a co editor of Airport Timetables for thirty years and specialising in charter flights more than well capable of making commercial calls and judgements.

So I’m not an armchair critic but one who can pull on industry knowledge over decades.

Ian you’ve been told many times we do not need or want how great EDI is compared to GLA. Your list of alliance member airlines was blatantly shoe-horned in and told us nothing we don’t already know. You do know we don’t want any of that in this forum and you have stated you’ll post how you see fit but that isn’t going to work. We value some of your knowledge, if not the superiority complex, but insist that we don’t want anything EDI related.

If you are going to call me by my first name at least spell it correctly! It’s Ian and has never, ever been Iain. I don’t have a superiority complex either but I’ll be more than prepared to stand up for myself and my views.
