Always believed there was over capacity over winter

Looks like USA pre clearance is coming to EDI next year! Goodness where they will put everyone, mind you roof space is still available.

That bodes more UA, DL, Plus perhaps B6 and N0.

US Transatlantic at GLA will be no more if this goes ahead.

Despite EDI boasting its busiest-ever summer reality hit home this afternoon as flights had to be held over the borders for up to 20 mins each due to congestion on the ground. easyJet appeared to be the worst affected with EI and FR also being impacted.

Before some come and spout the corporate line from EDI management I took my information from passengers who were flying in this afternoon and were impacted by it.

Per ATC comms, there was an issue with radar capacity / spacing compounded by per FR24 five executive jets arriving over TARTN within a few minutes of each other

It's still years away , if it happens at all. Other airports , both in Scotland and the Northern half of England, will have something to say about it , and delaying tactics will be inevitable. Dewar says he expects the "plans in place in 2 years" , he'll be lucky imo !

Lucky or not..!!! He’s at least putting his business out there & working on it … Silence the only policy this side of the country. If as EDI are obviously working on it & it does come to fruition in a year, two years or ten? What a coup and what a way to mop up.

Is it really viable on one year round transatlantic flight? Dublin as the obvious comparison has stacks of year round service. EDI has impressive summer service but not much otherwise. Surely it'll be majorly expensive for little return year round.
