Read the press release carefully - clearly written by the PR Team from Edinburgh Airport eg 'their most popular destinations'

Not normally in this thread but that's commendable.

Hardly surprising. It sounds like GLA was a contender five years or so ago but I can't see how any US airline would want to serve GLA over EDI at the moment.

There's a clear market from GLA demonstrated over 20+ years, it's one of the top most visited UK cities by US visitors (they don't just go to Edinburgh!) and there's no direct competition!

Nevertheless, if jetBlue ended up at EDI it would be a huge failure on GLA management's part. They've clearly been courting them for years, so to fail now would be inexcusable.

Agreed but there would be no one more disappointed than themselves if that happened. Sadly it’s the airlines who decide whether to land in a smaller but more open market or follow sheep-like into a crowded market.

Unfortunately that's a pattern that we've seen many times, not just in Scotland. However, why do we rarely see it working in GLA's favour?

We've had a highly successful EK service for nearly 20yrs, but in that time GLA have never persuaded another ME airline to start GLA flights. If we go by the "sheep" idea, EK's success at GLA should've meant QR and EY came to GLA, but they didn't and ended up at EDI! (and the off the back of EY failing there, EDI managed to get EK in straight away!).
