Could be good news for GLA.

Or more likely just an overall reduction in Scotland

Yep. I wonder if AGS would continue with their mooted purchase of PIK in that case as the outcome they want - PIK terminal closed and FR base moved to GLA (or at least more flights) - seems likely to happen anyway without them buying it? I suppose in not owning it, there's always a risk that a non-AGS owner seeks to re-establish passenger operations in the future, but I'd have thought that any closure of the PIK terminal now would be terminal for the terminal.

Having re-read the post, it seems that the FR pilots have taken an offer which will see these bases not closing. Good news, keeping jobs in the west of Scotland, do you not think?

Yes, it's downsizing whatever way you look at it.

I dont know about everyone else but I'm getting a little tired of hearing the one in the east mentioned, this forum is about Glasgow, the other aviation thread should be kept for things like aircraft retirement or some such, not to bring up the one on the east at every turn

Both RYR and EZY (at least) have to change their models by Jan 1 2021 anyway. For now its easier for EZY to run UK domestic from Jan 1 (in fact ONLY EZY can) and EJU run the rest as a European entity. RYR is a European entity bar the one lonely RUK 737 and will have a lot harder time having any UK base unless that part of the group gets grown. They can overnight in the UK with away crews but thats against their mantra. As far as PIK goes the only non based flying that may have issues is the Canaries - flight crew time and the issues they already have with creating Canary Island bases. Things change if the Ryanair group is willing to pay for overnighting crews more liberally but can they afford both the cost and setting a precedent?

Other Aviation forum. EDI is fair game surely?
