Ryanair Expansion

Post by atuk »

Two new Greek bases at CFU 2 aircraft 18 routes; RHO 1 aircraft 27 routes so must include many non based flights.

CHQ is reopens again with 1 aircraft 15 routes, maybe a return to GLA?

In Italy MXP gains 2 additional aircraft 30 routes, BGY BRI and BLQ each gain 1 additional aircraft with 2,8,8 routes respectively.

Looks like they are banking on a massive bookings surge when restrictions are lifted but if not will end up with lakes of red ink and more job cuts. Which is it to be?

Given what can be best described as PATHETIC vaccine rollout in the EU, later and later would be likely so RYR may be on shaky ground (except Greece where vaccinated people will soon be free to travel unrestricted).
Now we have Spain (who is in the top 3, if not the number 1, countries whose economy is tourism dependent) dramatically reducing vaccinations because of a holiday. Really????
I truly hope that this works for RYR even though I have no love for them as it shows some hope for an end to this.

So do I although though without getting political the vaccine issues in the EU shows up everything that is bad about politicians promoted beyond their competence levels, the fact that 27 countries, not one, are required to reach a consensus and the differing priorities adopted by each.

Anyway it would be good to reach a stage where folks can travel freely once more without fear, trepidation and penal restrictions.

Could the vaccine delay in Europe now actually HELP RYR?

With the delay in MAX deliveries due to Boeing waiting on the FAA to issue an AD (Airworthiness Directive) - basically being able to blame the FAA if it doesnt work - is RYR better off? They are likely to get more free money from Boeing to compensate for yet more delays which could offset at least the lack of income from still closed borders. One caveat is that several of the 737-800 are already on their way out for freighter conversion and those are currently in high demand - they may have a shortage but there will be some they can pull out of storage - but that involves RYRs least favourite subject - cost.

Well let's get a couple of 738's based a GLA and game on! Surely the powers that be at GLA must still be talking to MOL & co?

The question might be why are they ditching Belfast ? A GLA style lovers tiff was it ? I can still recall when most people on here thought Ryanair would be the ruin of Glasgow Airport and we really shouldn't court them. :o
