"Opening rift of Pretty Woman plays at press conference"

Never known an airline "open their legs" as much as FR do at BFS

Just the kind of thing that can and must happen at GLA.

PIK is the blocker on a GLA base.

It’s a well known & old(ish) story. GLA (or AGS) were looking to purchase PIK in recent times & could have resolved that edge of competition and switched all passenger traffic out of PIK. Supposedly with the skilled negotiating team that would be able to offer acceptable or even attractive terms, that would allow FR to base and maybe even grow the new Glasgow base.

That didn’t happen & Glasgow like so many European cities has more than one airport & FR are offered favourable terms at one or more of them all over. In Glasgow’s case only one airport has the ability (common sense even) to offer FR what they want… The location/reputation/status of PIK though limits what Glasgow’s airports are offered in routes and frequencies from Europe’s biggest airline & It’s plane to see where the problem lays… AGS via GLA’s team of no users are still asleep….. They and past GLA owners/management have been for decades.

Probably close on 2million bums on seats per year at a stroke.Granted BFS won't get rich quick from this but channels associated with the airport will be delighted...not to mention the punters who will no doubt have some great destinations to choose from. Time to get the two PIK based aircraft up the road to GLA now.

Did FR not only just pull all their BFS ops (and iirc pretty much everything in NI) last autumn? That's an incredible reversal.

It surely shows that FR cutting back GLA in 2018 should be no major barrier to them being dealt in to expand now.

We'll see what's announced, but it would leave GLA even more of an odd one out.

Afaik Belfast has lower inbound foreign tourist numbers than Glasgow and came out lower in the disposable income figures discussed recently. It's also a negligible difference in distance from Europe to GLA and has the large FR base at DUB not that far down the road.

Yep, they served both BFS and BHD and cut both in September blaming the NI assembly for lack of incentives to remain. Then within a month announced a return to LDY.

Don't know how long it will last at BFS but one to watch IMO

My thinking exactly. Never say never, especially with that lot.
