Wardair to Air Canada

Post by atuk »

This is for Piper One and anyone who remembers Wardair in the days before Canadian and Air Canada.

Whilst waiting at the gate today for delayed boarding due to cleaning issues, or rather the lack of cleaners and our ramp managers doing a sterling step up job to take things on board, I had the pleasure of speaking to an AC Cabin Crew member who has just been awarded her long service award starting with Wardair in 1974.

She relayed stories of their award winning service including fillet steaks cooked to order to myself and colleague with fond memories of747s, Prestwick Airport and latterly 777s,787s and 350s of Air Canada.

I remember going to PIK on Saturdays back in the day to see the 'heavies' and Wardair 747's certainly featured.
Well done to the lassie for sticking it out for so long. Hope she gets a decent reward.

The Wardair Boeing 727 (CF-FUN) was a regular visitor to Glasgow in the 1960s with the 707 visiting occasionally

She was proudly wearing her long service award badge and kindly gave my colleague a Maple Leaf badge which she was delighted with. What a diamond!

It is indeed and back in the day the Canadian civil register was CF- before presumably running out of letters and changing it to todays C-.
