Big expansion from SunExpress in the UK next summer including new flights to LBA. You'd have thought GLA would be bending over to get them in.

Sun Express have been on the go since April1990 operating to German cities from Izmir and Antalya with a combination of gastearbeiter flights for VFR and holiday packages for various German tour operators.

Austria and Switzerland were soon added to the route network along with Belgium and the Netherlands.

They used to operate to GLA from AYT on behalf of Thomas Cook Tour Operations with a mix of 737 and 757 aircraft. They were closely tied toThomas Cook and Condor before the split from Lufthansa and now operate from major UK airports including another airport in Scotland. Seats are bulk purchased by TUI for some routes and it looks like they are following the German model by adding more UK departure points as they did in Germany. Of course this UK expansion may well be to offset any decline in Germany due to their recession. It’s notable that last year Condor did not operate to AYT at all: it was formerly its number one overseas destination rivalling Palma.
