I thought they made a strategic decision to cut the tatl routes from Eastern Canada last year?
It will surely have taken fair bit of time and money to redeploy the aircraft and staff - only for them to do a volte-face and restart them all again a year later!
If they were unprofitable, then why bring them back?
And then there's the Scottish dimension.........

WestJet has significantly reduced its Canada–USA capacity due to the current political situation and plans to redeploy aircraft to Europe. It's rather frustrating to see YYZ–Glasgow East increase to 11x weekly instead of relaunching YYZ–GLA.

Most likely tied into a multi-year, exclusive deal

Never mind, elusive Ryanair deal right around the corner
Happy to be proved wrong of course, but every day that passes us by, there’s literally no chance of GLA regaining its former glory.

To reach 10m pax? I bet it will. Can’t guess when though. That will indeed depend on when Ryanair set up here.

Or if they set up here.

Let's see how this plays out this summer . . . . and more importantly into 2026
Central Scotland to Toronto in peak summer 2025 will have 25 flights a week - just watch the yields plummet!

I was just looking at a bunch of dates over the summer, EDI-YYZ was pretty consistently much cheaper - sometimes by £200-300 - than GLA-YYZ.
If anyone fancies a trip to Canada for £350rtn in peak summer (and doesn't care about flying from EDI!) then go for it!
But of course, EDI is much higher yielding......
