Another stark statistic - Qatar out of EDI handled only 138 passengers less than Emirates out of GLA in July 2023

Let's get back to double daily B777s rather than the single A380 - connecting traffic through the Middle East needs double daily

If you look at its UK peers, the 2-3% growth at GLA compared to Jul 22 is pretty dire - most are in the 10-20% growth bracket. The new CEO seemed to be very positive when he spoke to the press a few months ago, but this doesn't as yet seem to have translated to results.

Hopefully EK will increase soon, I think it would also help the airport and the airport shops and bars to have 300+ longhual pax going through the terminal in the evening again.

I wonder if GLA will ever get another Middle Eastern carrier in, given EKs long term success?

If it hurts even more, NCL had more pax to MLB than GLA, despite GLA being peak school holidays. :o

All very well if Emirates go double daily next year as their only schedules from Scotland but today they are only offering the daily A380 for next summer while their competition in the east will have further established its name with travel agents, business passengers etc with double daily already on sale

Totally agree. I'm sick and tired of the whole vanity project that is the A380. Fed up saying it. Double daily B777's is the key. As someone else pointed out, the airport could really use a few hundred pax going through in the evening when there's the square root of nothing happening.

We where a double daily station with both A380 and 777 each day so i would prefer going back to that , not a X2 777 .. thats a step back from past covid

I agree, covid was a major blow to the aviation industry but let's not forget money was invested for the A380 gate, and the A380 is proving itself. Glasgow is a key market for Emirates and has proved itself time and time again. Glasgow could possibly take 2 A380s a day but I think having A380 and 777 daily is the best option.

I don't think it's a vanity aspect, Glasgow is one of a number of airports that see the A380, we are 1 of 49 the aircraft serves, out of 133 globally the airline serves. The A380 only serves 37% of the Emirates network, and the fact we are part of that 37%, I think is am amazing achievement.

I don't know about anybody else, but seeing the Aircraft fly over Larkhall still takes my breath away, its still Padam, as the pop goddess, Kylie says.
