Valet Parking

Post by PiperOne »

The old drop-off area at the west end of the terminal has been re-vamped to provide a new facility for valet parking. The lane has been re-surfaced, and segregated from the main traffic flow by a crash barrier. An entry "shed" with a barrier and camera (ANPR?) has also been provided and a Portakabin installed at the terminal end. The whole area is looking an awful lot better than the eyesore it had become with its blue wooden fences. Perhaps related, the original multi-storey part of car park 1 is all now fenced off.

I've been in & out of the drop-off four times in the last couple of weeks - no vehicles in the lane, two or three attendants standing around

I do wonder if it makes money - eg Long Stay £70, Valet Parking £100 (it has to be booked at least 24 hours in advance and for a minimum of 7 days) so probably a small percentage of those using the long-term car park which in turn is a small percentage of the terminal passengers
