EZY revisit old bases

Post by awwdabaaby »

Looks like EZYs next UK airport will be EMA, a former GO base

GO! Now that takes me back.

I believe EMA was their 3rd base after STN and BRS, and from EMA they flew to GLA, EDI, ALC, FAO, AGP and PRG.

Iirc, at the time Go were looking at expanding at GLA and/or EDI, but BAA's intransigence over fees caused them to open a base at at EMA instead. There is a passage on this in Barbara Cassani's autobiography.

Funny how 20 years pass and ownership of the airport changes, but we're still talking about apparently similar issues at GLA now.

If only ownership of GLA had changed. AGS is what remains of BAA simply under a new name.

Took the children on their first flight with go when they ran a £1 or similar fare promotion - GLA to/from EMA 02 July 2002 G-IGOV outbound, G-IGOU inbound

Unless I missed something, EZY relaunching EMA never materialised. Their new UK airport was indeed Derry.

I'll admit I was wrong, but it still appears on their website
