Iain has made a very valid point. I suspect you understand this, but for one reason or another, it doesn't align with your narrative. Rather than name calling do you want to come back with an adult-like response?

Hi Iain - I’m sure you don’t mean GLA can’t compete with PIK because clearly the absolute opposite is true.Iain wrote: ↑Mon Jul 22, 2024 6:31 pm Investing advance re BRS/CWL discussion:

£206m in public funds for CWL, on top of £200m already put in - and BRS are still wiping the floor with them and will likely continue to do so.
Meanwhile about £40m into PIK and GLA can't compete and they can't get FR up the road. I think this illustrates where the problem lies, and it's not PIK's ownership.
No pax airlines want to use PIK and long may that continue, aside from the paltry Ryanair base which we know has another 4 years on the contract but no likelihood of growth.
Again I say we don’t know why GLA bosses haven’t been able to secure a Ryanair base at GLA in the last 8 years but I’m 100% sure they will, either under AGS or if not certainly new owners, and this may run in tandem with PIK before the latter is closed. I don’t think it’s case of PIK is substituting GLA for Ryanair because they could do 10 times more at GLA and the current PIK schedules could be seen as serving chiefly the local Ayrshire market for the Canaries, Costas, etc.

Re: CAA May 24 stats
PIK are scared that if Ryanair close the base, then the maintenance hub will go as well.
GLA should be speaking to Ryanair and EasyJet. Find out which routes out of EDI have majority G postcode bookings. Do them a deal to move a number of these flights to GLA to as part of a new base / increased base which also allows them to then offer new routes elsewhere that they are hampered with due to the congestion.

Daft idea IMHO.McG wrote: ↑Tue Jul 23, 2024 7:41 pm PIK are scared that if Ryanair close the base, then the maintenance hub will go as well.

I’d suggest that would be a breach of GDPR if these airlines were to give out the details of their customers to a 3rd party.
Also, for any corporate customers whose flights are paid for them on their behalf, using either corporate or virtual credit cards, these credit cards aren’t going to be registered to G postcodes despite the fact 99% of pax may or may not originate from the west coast.
Re: CAA May 24 stats
Hadn’t considered the GDPR implications tbh.
But we should still be making the suggestion to the airlines that certain flights are ripe for a move West, even if we have to couch it by suggesting that it would allow them to expand their offering in the East without putting more airframes into an already congested airfield where holding for stands is the norm.

Re: CAA May 24 stats
Especially where their frequency is more than 7 per week. Airlines should be told they’d command higher yields by putting the extra 4 flights or whatever into GLA thus squeezing the supply at both rather than having cheap seats from the east and none from the rest of the market. ie MAD, IST, GVA, CPH, etcMcG wrote: ↑Wed Jul 24, 2024 9:09 am Hadn’t considered the GDPR implications tbh.

Another ploy could be to have a secret agent riding the Glasgow-EDI bus and surveying everyone on board to get their travel story. This would cover inbound pax as well as the G postcode folks you mentioned.

Re: CAA May 24 sta
GLA should be selling themselves based on aircraft having no need to wait for a stand as they’re mostly always empty, as well as the fact EDI seems to close intermittently every other day for the runway to be patched up.
Re: CAA May 24 stats
EK load factor on the DXB route was 83% for May. Is that not quite low?
