This smacks so much of the Air Berlin Palma Shuttle when they added a PMI-STN link to augment the Palma hub services to Spain and Portugal. None were successful; the Palma hub being dismantled bit by bit then ditched as it impacted aircraft utilisation hours, operational delays and the bugbear of IT operations: too many seats not enough bums to fill them.
Why is it so many airlines never learn from the lessons of the past. Forget the “ huge demand for capacity”. If we are not able to travel then no seats will be filled.
Finally drawing on my extensive experience of The IT industry Palma may not be the right destination. Traditionally it was all beach and cheap/exclusive resorts plus cruise. I think if you take TUI as a benchmark Tuesday/Saturday flights were all about cruising with ships berthed there on these days. The other flights covered the beach markets. Any winter market has long since gone.
