Cheers J! There's nothing in that article that makes you want to instantly book the "leisurely experience". British Airways under the guise of the old BEA may well have flown LGW to Renfrew airport back in the day?

Gatwick was British United's stomping ground, with Viscount's operating until the 1-11s were delivered. However, BEA used Viscounts and Vanguards to Heathrow, even after the switch to the new airport, supported by Comets. Tridents appeared in 1967.

British Caledonian bought British United Airways following publication of the Edward’s Report of 1970 which favoured a second force UK airline.

My first ever flight was from GLA to NCL in 1973 followed by my first ever flight to LGW from GLA, again British Caledonian. I always flew BCal until British Midland launched GLA-LHR way back in 1982.

While we're on first flights, my first ever flight was when my dad took me on the bus from Glasgow to Edinburgh then surprised me with flight home from Turnhouse to Abbotsinch with BEA on a Viscount. Around 1969 I think. So exciting and started by love of all things aviation! Amazing that you could fly such a short distance then. Bit like your GLA to NCL.

Not at all, no need to apologise. GLA-AMS operated via NCL back in the early 1970s. Outbound BR 845, inbound early evening BR848. There was also an EDI-CPH service operating via NCL.

I never flew GLA-EDI on BEA or BA but did with BR and UK when Air UK took over the EDI and GLA to LGW services.
