Lufthansa
Lufthansa
Extract from Lufthansa Chairman & CEO speech to 'virtual' AGM next Tuesday
No one knows yet when we will be able to take off again.
We expect part of our fleet to spend the summer on the ground and hope for a proper
restart in the autumn at the earliest. However, it is going to be a very slow start-up
phase and we expect that global demand will on only find its new balance in 2023. It
will be new because it will be a balance on a lower level.
That is what are current planning and strategies are based on. We do not just want to
be better than others during the crisis; we also want to be better after the crisis.
We are also working on structural realignment in order to emerge from this crisis
stronger. We are making use of the time to position ourselves competitively for the
future.
We are planning with a significantly smaller Lufthansa Group.
Scotland will do well to secure a daily flight to Frankfurt by Q4 2020

Re: Lufthansa
If the major alliances retrench to predominantly hub to hub flying on longhaul, then I could see a scenario where by next summer GLA is at 2 daily flights to FRA. This would likely be at the expense of UA and AC Rouge though as the passengers get routed via FRA.
Re: Lufthansa
Think we are looking way to much into things .. let's see how it pans out , I dont think it's going to be as bad as what is getting made out . Nobody knows unless they have a crystal ball
Re: Lufthansa
I do fear that we wont see UA returning. I think AC should be ok however. LH at twice daily would be good to see, even if it was operated by CRJ-900s
Re: Lufthansa
AC rouge will be reduced to about 18 single aisle and all 767’s will be leaving the fleet. The basis seems to be that Transat will become the leisure airline for them. Makes sense to be fair!
Re: Lufthansa
Alot of question there now about TS , will they copy rouge schedule and reduce to 3 a week at gla and open at EDI or continue with current gla schedule and leave EDI or just ditch gla and consolidate in the east . Need to wait and see if that happens
Re: Lufthansa
I’d imagine they’ll consolidate at GLA for their Scottish ops.

Re: Lufthansa
I’m not so sure that Rouge will return given they are retiring 767 capacity and Air Transat will be fully owned and integrated by then. I would expect TS to operate to Glasgow with Westjet and no EDI-YYZ link. It can be provided with stops on Skyteam and also United.
