I can definitely confirm EDi-BOS 4*weekly with a 5*weekly JFK initially increasing to a daily frequency. Both flights are 767 so hopefully no tech delays like the 757s of both DL and AA.

Way things are going, the only US destinations GLA will see next year are MCO and SFB. Might stay that way for a few years too

May not even be SFB. Next year TUI were meant to be basing a cruise ship in Fort Lauderdale with flights switching from SFB to Melbourne FL. given all the uncertainty regards cruising everything is “up in the air” no pun intended.

Regards DL it’s no surprise given the operation began with EDI-ATL many years ago then resurrected itself as JFK in 2016. The station manager, lead agents and DL staff are trained and in situ in EDI although handling staff, including myself, currently furloughed. It may well be that the 767 is on in case AA don’t return.

That said back to Glasgow. Given all the recent comments, advice, instructions and fear created the travel industry is collapsing on its feet like a dying patient. It’s affecting all airports, airlines and handling staff for the worse.

I personally think that if we all survive this winter it will be a miracle. And just because TUI are the world’s leading tour operator it doesn’t mean they can’t also go bust. I don’t think they’ll be back in EDI despite what is brochured. I’ve been around the charter business for more decades than I care to remember and know exactly what it means when the word “consolidation” comes out. For me it means TUI based at GLA. W flights, if at all, to ABZ and EDI. It simply costs too much for economies of scale to dictate otherwise.

"Kate Sherry spent 10 years at Ryanair, 8 of those as Route Development Director where she led Ryanair’s expansion across existing and new markets. She joins Edinburgh Airport from aviation consultancy Skylight Aviation."
