Quick report from last nights flight down to Luton on EZY78, A319 G-EZDH.
First time ever flying from GLA, and overall a very good experience.
Arrived at the airport at approx 18:45, greeted by the sight of a Smartwings 737-800, and Ryanair 737 as well as a whole bunch of BA Airbii.
Into the departure hall after and up through security. One lane open, but that wasn't a problem, there was only 2 of us there!
So through security, and into a deserted departure lounge, the only non lounge bar, the Beardsmore(?) was just closing at 7. WH Smith and Boots closing at 8.
I noticed the Lomond lounge was open, so £25 to get in there. Unfortunately, it was closing at 8 too, so a couple of pints kn there, overlooking the ramp, great views, and the lady working, very friendly. Only 1 other person in there too however.
After leaving there, I joined the other 80 or so pax waiting for EZY78 down to Luton, everyone was well spread out with social distancing being maintained. Gate was called at 8:25, so down to 7C in trotted where boarding began immediately.
I took my seat in 24A, and we waited for the remaining passengers to board. Plenty of empty seats with a load factor of perhaps 55-60%, not too bad given it was a Wednesday night 9pm flight during a pandemic.
Inboard, masks were worn, the crew Luton based were friendly and service was quick. 1x Captain and 2 x SFOs in the cockpit, someone getting a promotion.
Took off on runway 5 and rocketed into the air, great views of all the lights .
1 hour later, we landed in Luton with a bump, flight was smooth all the way down. Fairly straight forward to get through there and down to the train station.
Summary wise, despite the fact GLA was so quiet, I could see that it was a well laid out airport.
Only concern would be the mingling of arriving and departing passengers on the way to the gate.
Going to be a long hard winter, but I look forward to using the airport again in busier times.
And I didnt even need a shellsuit after all these years
Back up to GLA on Friday, on the EZY75, A320 this time, and a much busier looking flight.

Your shell suit went back to Jacamo years ago mate.

Aye, very easy airport to navigate through, shame everything was closed. Landed back 30 mins early from Luton yesterday on A320 G-EZGY, bit of a problem with one set of stairs which held up disembarkation, but after that, landside in under 4 minutes.
Load was about 80% full on the way back up. Unfortunately some bastards starting clapping on landing. And singing If Your Happy and You know it.
Pretty cool to see a Twotter push back on its own too
