Restart was planned because the US ban was set to expire in early September. But thanks to the irresponsible actions (concentrated in Southern states predominately) that MAY now be January and there is a lot less traffic then. Only Americans/residents/ essential workers can travel and initially the forward bookings looked "acceptable" - but the cancellations over the last few weeks have been close to those at the beginning of all this so here we are.

I'll agree with Clive and awwdabaaby that it's not funny and that there are too many posts that mention EDI. However, these post mention EDI simply because it poses a very real threat of depriving GLA of any established and/or new routes in the future. Go on Flightradar24 and 70% of the traffic heading to the central belt of Scotland at any one time will be heading for EDI. Unfortunately it makes perfect sense to keep EDI in our focus. I just wish the management team at GLA had the same vision.

And that Glasgow had a big castle in a medieval city centre. Then we’d be sorted.bill wrote: ↑Wed Sep 15, 2021 8:28 pmI'll agree with Clive and awwdabaaby that it's not funny and that there are too many posts that mention EDI. Re: Icelandair
To be fair, it had a medievel city centre and a big castle in the 90 s as well..
Re: Icelandair
This is true but it didn’t have budget flights from all over Europe. Nowhere did as they hadn’t been invented. Only after the deregulation of the airline industry did this begin. I’m sure we would find similar stories on Prague, Krakow, Budapest, etc as budget flights opened up mass tourism.
We can’t deny the fact that Edinboro (spelling changed to protect the key word logarithms as we talk about it far too much) is one of Europe’s top city break destinations for good reason. Back in the early 90’s over half of that airport’s pax were flying to and from London. Even now it has a daft amount of London pax.

Meanwhile, back with Icelandair, and a 757 making a welcome appearance today
Re: Icelandair
Must have been lightly loaded judging by it's super quick exit from 23 on landing.

Do you think FI could change there mind now USA is open ??
Re: Icelandair
That's gonna depend on the passenger interest I'd suppose ? Seemingly bookings were high enough to restart the service but once Biden started playing with the dates, transatlantic transfer customers cancelled in their droves.
Its one to watch though, for sure.
